My wife has Emphysema, Asthma, & COPD. I purchased this unit, because I noticed her breathing was worse in the summer than in the winter. I keep the humidifier at 30%, during the winter. I found that even with a central air conditioner, the humidity was in the 40% range, during the summer. I have this unit set at the minimum of 35%, & it does a great job at keeping the humidity in the low 30% range. My wifes Doctor said it was a good investment, for her breathing problems. I am also looking into an air purifier, to help even more. This unit is a great medical device. It takes practice to get the bucket out without spilling the water, when it is full, but I got it downpat to a science now. I wish the humidistat was in 1% increments, instead of 5%. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone with breathing problems, because it also keeps down the mold, that can also affect breathing problem patients.
