Description Tech Specs

The MDF3-74 is Alen's most powerful dehumidifier, with 74 pints of moisture removal for large spaces up to 800 square feet. This unit delivers 800 watts of dehumidifying power and is energy star rated. All of Alen dehumidifiers contain the eco-friendly R-410A refrigerant, which unlike Freon, does not contain chlorine that can be harmful to the ozone layer.

Designed to provide convenient solutions – the removable water tank holds up to 74 pints of water or it can be installed to drain through water pipes (recommended if you live in a hurricane zone).

The MDF3-74 has an adjustable humidistat to set humidity room levels anywhere from 35% to 80%, built-in casters for easy mobility, an automatic shut off once the internal bucket fills, two fan speeds, a washable air filter and an electronic user interface. Mold and bacteria thrive in humidity levels above 80%, so for optimal indoor air quality, we recommend you set your humidity setting between 35% and 50%.

GREAT!!! Dehumidifier January 26, 2012
Reviewer: Owner of a GREAT dehumidifier from NY
This machine is great! It has been running for me for over two years going on to three without any problems. The machine is very easy to maintain and set up. I have a very large basement that had a musty odor and you could tell it was too moist. I thought this machine would be a great solution to it and it really was. It basically sucks the moisture out of the air and the basement feels great and the musty odor is gone. By the way my basement is also finished. If you are really debating between dehumidifiers I would highly recommend this one!  It will really do its job I was very satisfied and now I am considering buying an air purifier from Alen.

Basement Humidity Under Control November 4, 2011
Reviewer: Dennis Tucker from Elkton, MD United States
After record rainfall this summer, basement RH supported mold and mildew although, my dehumidifier was running. Bad for musical instruments, electronics and books! I installed the Alen MDF3-74. The remote drain is a kludge but I found a hose to use until I can get tubing.
It ran full-bore for several days and humidity began to stabilize around 40%. I was then able to run the fan at lower speed and set for auto control. This works well but the unit freezes with temps in the 70s and RH aound 45%. Also, it is the noisiest appliance in the basement.
The dehumidifier is now in control of humidity and, with the lower outdoor humidy we're experiencing now, the unit shuts down for extended periods of time - a welcome silence. The bottom line is that it did the job. A very large room is now a humidity controlled environment.
The positive - it did the job. Negatives - Made in China, expensive and Customer Service is pretty bad at responding to questions.

Alen dehumidifier October 17, 2011
Reviewer: DD from Washington, DC United States
Like all dehumidifiers, a little on the noisy side, but takes huge amounts of water out of the swampy summer air, and I couldn't live without it.

MDF3-74 dehumidifier packs a wallop July 11, 2011
Reviewer: Leslie from Arden, NC United States
The MDF3-74 dehumidifier's truly a dependable workhorse. For an 800-sf room, the unit quietly and effficiently draws the humidity right out of the air.

Configuring the unit for continuous draining is as easy as 1-2-3, even for the technically challenged. It takes under 60 seconds to set it up, and it means you'll never again have to break your back emptying the water bucket twice a day.

Pulling the dehumidifier filter out of its housing for periodic cleaning's a snap; all it takes is your pinkie to slide it out and back in with the greatest of ease.

Alen Corp really stands behind its products and product warranty. I know firsthand, because when the previous unit broke down, the company shipped out a brand new unit promptly. The day I called to request a replacement unit and get instructions on how to properly dispose of the defective unit, a knowledgeable customer service rep was there to assist me every step of the way, both over the phone and by email.

working well for us June 14, 2011
Reviewer: Pete from West Hartford CT
We bought dehumidifier and it has been working very well thus far.  Quiet  and much more effective than the brand it replaced.
Brought humidity lower quicker than other brand which never got it to level we desired and cost the same.
